Happy New Year!

The entire NeutrOlene family wishes you the "Best New Year Ever!" as we turn our calendars to 2016, and as we begin a new year. With this e-letter, we are launching a new monthly communication we believe provides our users with a useful tool.

NeutrOlene formulas neutralize any organic odor...and this newsletter offers information/ideas about how to rid your facility of offensive odors by using NeutrOlene.

The Nose Knows
Your sense of smell, one of the basic human senses, begins with your nose, which can detect over 10,000 different smells, thanks to its 12 million olfactory receptor cells. But that's just a fraction compared to the 100 to 300 million receptor cells dogs have, giving them the ability to recognize 40,000 different smells.

Research has found smells within one's environment are directly responsible for an individual’s mood, emotions and even memory. Ultimately, it's important to surround yourself with great smells to increase a happier, higher quality of life.

** Los Angeles Coroner's Office is a long-time user of NeutrOlene products, which were prominently featured in the office's crypt during a recent broadcast of "This Is Life With Lisa Ling," in a segment titled, "America's Busiest Coroner."

Eeewww, That Smell!
Found mainly in Southeast Asia and indigenous to Malaysia, the Durian is a fruit with a smell some say resembles a mix of rotting onions, turpentine and feces combined with terrible smelling gym socks. This fruit emits approximately 44 smelly compounds such as ethanethiol (smells like onions) and Methanethiol (smells like rotting cabbage). Durian smells so bad, it has been banned in Singapore.

Best Way to Remove Vomit Stains From Most Washable Fibers
Not a favorite task, but it helps to know how to remove vomit stains if the need arises:

Clothing

  1. Identify the fiber. Washables are acrylic, cotton, linen, nylon, Olefin, Polyester or Spandex

  2. Quickly scrape to remove solids.

  3. Soak the stain in a solution of 1 qt. warm water and 1/2 teaspoon liquid detergent.

  4. Scrub gently with toothbrush or scrape to help loosen the stain.

  5. Blot occasionally with an absorbent pad or layers of thick towel.

  6. Rinse well with water, making sure to remove all ammonia traces.

  7. Launder. Add one-half cup NeutrOlene to washing machine.

Carpet and Upholstery:

  1. Quickly scrape/remove any excess vomit.

  2. Sprinkle with baking soda, cornstarch, or other absorbent and let stand 15 minutes before vacuuming.

  3. Mix 1 Tbs. liquid hand soap or dishwashing detergent, 1 Tbs. white vinegar, and 2 cups warm water, then sponge onto stain.

  4. Blot until liquid is absorbed.

  5. Sponge with cold water to remove solution and then blot dry again.

  6. Spray liberally with NeutrOlene.

'Skunked' on Duty
It was one of those calls for help that could only happen in rural Texas. Terry Count y Sheriff Larry Gilbreath in Brownfield (pop. 12,000) remembers it well: "An older citizen somehow ended up with a skunk under her house and called us to remove it...which my deputy was happy to do, except he was sprayed in the process.

"When our deputy called in his report, we told him we'd have plenty of NeutrOlene waiting for him in the garage...and to go home, shower with it, wash his clothes with it and spray his vehicle liberally.

"When he stopped by to pick up more NeutrOlene (we put a bottle in every truck), we could smell the "skunk" as soon as he opened the door of his vehicle" Gilbreath said. "The next morning when he reported for his shift, it was like it hadn't happened...except I think the whole incident hurt his pride."
Gilbreath manages a staff of 32 and a jail with 104 beds in the southern Panhandle of Texas. A good friend, Funeral Director Gene Allen of Kerrville, had told the sheriff about NeutrOlene several months earlier, so Gilbreath had ordered the product to use in the department's vehicles as well as the jail -- where prisoners regularly smear cell walls with feces, food and whatever else they can get their hands on.

'We put it in our mop water, in our washers, in our showers, restrooms and anywhere we deal with sanitation problems and odors," the sheriff said. "NeutrOlene does the job every time. We even use it to clean up crime scenes. I haven't found anything better."

In 2004, scientists named Vieux Boulogne "the smelliest cheese on the planet." The rind of Vieux Boulogne is washed in beer, and that horrible odor comes from the beer’s bacteria reacting with the enzymes in the cheese.
